Tribal marks is one of the cultural identity recognised by some tribes in Nigeria. Some tribes like the Yoruba and Hausa and some other minor tribe such as the Igalas give their children tribal marks as a way of tribal identification. Some of these marks are given on the cheeks, forehead, chest, hands, back etc. it was said that long before Nigeria got its independence, a person was identified by the tribal marks the person is wearing, as each tribe have their own unique way of giving the tribal marks. With the coming in of civilization , religion, science and technology, the culture of giving tribal marks is quietly fazing out, as tribes now know that there are other better means of identifying themselves other than with tribal marks. But the issue now is with those who have already gotten the marks, who are looking for a way to clear of the marks from their body. Removing of tribal marks is one difficult task as the marks are made in such a way that the person who receives the marks will carry it till death, but in this article, we will look at some few solutions available for the removal of tribal marks;

Micro-dermabrasion is one method used in the reduction of scars like tribal marks. It involves the use of fibers or material that wears or rubs off the old layer of the skin where the scars are most prominent and then helping the skin to regenerate new cells which will gradually fade out the scars.

Laser surgery is a more recent method used to fade out old scars like tribal marks. It is a more expensive procedure can be helpful in the removal of tribal marks. Laser surgery works by burning the top layer of the skin so that a fresh one can be properly rebuilt. It normally requires the person going for more than just one session.

In both cases, chemicals containing Vitamin E and collagen are normally used in helping the skin rebuilt itself after the procedure.

The human body has a natural way of fading out tribal marks over time but a little help can speed up the process.
