The new airtime loan service by Network providers is a life saver especially if you find yourself in a situation where you have to make an emergency call and have no means of recharging your line immediately.

MTN Xtra Time service is available for all eligible Customers, and to partake or use this service, you must meet the following criteria;
- Your SIM must be at least 3 months old.
- Your SIM must have been active in the last 1 month.
- You must have paid up all previous Xtra time loans you collected.
- Finally, your airtime balance must be N12 or less.

If you met the above criteria and you wish to borrow airtime from MTN Xtra Time service, simply dial *606#. It will give you the following options;
Press 1 to check your eligibility status
Press 2 to request for Xtra Time.
Press 3 to check your Xtra Time balance
Press 4 to view your Xtra time history.

Since you are requesting for Xtra Time, you have to press 1 and send, it will bring out the amount you are qualified to borrow starting from N50. Choose the amount you wish to borrow and send. The amount will be credited into your account immediately. MTN collects a charge of 10% of the amount you borrowed. This is a downside of the service, which means that if you borrow N150, 10% of 150 is 15, so your account will be credited with N135. You can use the Xtra credit to make calls, send text messages and even to subscribe for browsing data.
