One technology that is seriously being considered as an option in Nigeria and as an alternative energy source for the generation of electricity is solar power. This form of electricity is quite easily managed and operated with. When you take a look at the state of electricity in Nigeria, one would have no choice than to embrace this power source. With it, constant and uninterrupted supply of power is guaranteed.Solar power involves the collecting and conversion of light from the sun into electricity. This is done by using what is referred to as solar panels. These solar panels are flat panels which are made up of several individual cells either using photovoltaics (PV) directly, or using concentrated solar power (CSP). The concentrated solar power system makes use of mirrors or lenses and also tracking systems to focus a great deal of sunlight into a small beam while the photovoltaics make use of the photovoltaic effect in converting light into electric current In Nigeria, the need for an alternative source of electric power cannot be overemphasized as: apart from the incessant interruption and inconsistency in power supply, the price of oil is also ever increasing. Also, solar power is known to be environmental friendly. This is largely because they do not emit substances that could be offensive and harmful and possibly contaminate the environs. Apart from a reduction in pollution, they do not make noise since they do not have moving parts.Once upon a time the solar power system was considered a very expensive venture, but as its production process got improved, it is now being considered cost effective. It saves you a lot of money especially on the long run. This source of energy is known to save you a lot of as it will not require any sought of fueling-the only time you spend is during its installation. Nigerians are beginning to resort to this form of alternative energy source.
As a Nigerian business man, Every entrepreneur knows that for a business to be more profitable, it has to look for ways of reducing its cost of operation. One of ways a business can achieve this is through employing the use of solar power. This form of energy was once considered very expensive but due to the recent improvement in its production process it has now become a lot more reasonable to operate with even compared to retail/usual source of electricity. It is now worth the investment. One of the challenges faced by Nigerian businesses in this 21st century is the problem of power. There is always a failure in one aspect or the other. This has been stifling the growth of several establishments. This has been a crucial confrontation and great cause for concern for a lot of business owners as there is a limited access to electricity. The solution will be for Nigerian businesses to exploit the solar technology. This has proven to be very effective and conservative and always proves to be a worthy investment. It’s time for our Nigerian businesses to tap into this alternation energy source and also benefit from its many advantages.
