There is now no need to have an ordinary fan in Nigeria that can only work when there is electrical power supply from an unreliable power company when fans that work with batteries have already flooded the market. A Rechargeable fan is a fan that comes with a backup battery and accepts Alternate Current AC input power. The rechargeable fan works by first being charged by staying plugged into an electricity supply outlet before use. Excess power is stored in the battery and when the electric power goes off, the fan works with the power saved inside the battery.

Owning a Rechargeable fan in Nigeria is more of a necessity than a luxury because of the following reasons;

• Power Supply is inefficient: Nigeria still suffers from an inefficient or epileptic power supply which normally leaves home either totally disconnected for days or have power based on rationing or time based intervals. It is hardly regular. In fact in most places you can stay for days without power, the rechargeable fan comes in handy since most of them lasts for as much as 10 to 20 hours depending on how you use it.

• The Weather Is Hot: Nigeria experiences over 6 months of extreme hot seasons. During the hot season, the air becomes very hot both during the day time and at night. It is during this time that most people start experience diseases that occur due to hot weather for instance heat rash; rechargeable fan comes in handy to keep the air moderately cool during this period independent of whether there is power supply or not.

• Mosquitoes can disturb your sleep: Nigeria is still far from gaining solid ground in the fight against mosquitoes and malaria; Mosquitoes are a common problem in most neighbourhoods and this includes cities too. They move mostly at night in their numbers to bite people and transfer the malaria causing illness. An electric fan can help prevent their bites while also allowing you to sleep peacefully. So, using a rechargeable fan at night will keep the mosquitoes at bay although it will not kill them.
