Why many Nigerians patronize home movie rental shops

Movie rental shops are shops where home movies can be rented or purchased for a very cheap price; these shops can be found in almost every major street or road in Nigeria; and we Nigeria prefer to patronize instead of visiting the cinemas. Reasons why Nigerians patronize home video rental shops are;

1. It's cheaper than going to the cinemas: Movies are rented out for N50 and sold for N100 which is very cheap when you compare it to the N1, 500 that is charged per movie in a cinema while for Premiers you pay up to N7, 500 or more; so Nigerians prefer to go for the cheaper option which is renting or purchasing the movies to watch at home.

2. Scarcity of Cinemas: I talked about how much it cost to view a movie in a cinema house; some people have the money to pay for the fee but their problem is that there is no cinema house in their location; Cinemas are mostly located in major cities in Nigeria; that is Abuja, Lagos, Port Harcourt and recently Akwa Ibom, people staying outside these locations have no cinema houses around them, so they settle for renting the movies to watch at home and visit the cinemas only when they take a trip to any others the major Cities.

3. Better Comfort: some people feel more comfortable watching movies in the comfort of their own homes, than taking a trip to a cinema or a Movie Premier, which is another reason why they always take a trip to nearby video rental shops to buy movies.

4. Entertainment: Many stay at home moms, wives or kids find that watching Nigerian movies helps keep them entertained rather than staying idle. For them, it's a cheap price to pay for entertainment.
