In Nigeria, traditional Medicine is still thriving as millions of Nigerians still prefer to use traditional medicine to cure diseases. This is despite the progress we have made is our orthodox medical field so far. Traditional medicine in itself has to do with the use of natural roots and herbs in the treatment of some sickness.

Few reasons why traditional medicine still thrives in Nigeria;

• Less risk of side effects: some of the orthodox medicines used by medical doctors have side effects and can cause some form of allergies to some people, traditional medicines have little risk of side effects as each extract is prepared to cure a particular type of illness. S0 people use these traditional medicines to curb the long term side effects of drugs.

• Cheaper to use: Since the traditional medicine is gotten form extracts from Herbs and roots which are freely cultivated, traditional medicines treatment are generally cheaper than the orthodox medicine which is much costlier because a patients is always required to go through various medical test, x-ray examinations in order to determine what is wrong with the Patient before doctors commence treatment people opt for the cheaper option.

• Readily Available: Most roots, and herbs are readily found in Nigeria and people can even plate their roots in their houses and use it whenever it’s needed to cure any type of illness without presentation. This is better than medicine which can only be bough pharmacy stores or hospital and has to taken with doctor’s prescription.
