Isi ewu also known as ngwongwo is a popular dish in Nigeria. Isi ewu which is translated head of a goat in the Igbo language is very popular with Nigerian In the eastern part of the country also known as the Igbos. This dish is not an everyday regular meal but a special one which can be prepared at home or purchased at public restaurants. It is also commonly prepared during special occasions such as tradition marriages, funeral ceremonies etc. The major ingredient used in the preparation of Isi ewu dish is the meat gotten from the head of a goat and some condiments.Some of the ingredients needed to prepare an Isi ewu dish include;
A sizeable portion of a goat head include the eye, tongue, and some of the digestive systems (afo anu), palm oil, wild bean (ukpaka) salt, pepper, magi, crayfish, utazi.To prepare the dish, season the goat meat well and cook it until it’s done, meanwhile, while the meat is on fire, bring a mortar and a pistol, add the Palm oil, add a little quantity of caustic soda ( akanwu), and turn oil it has an orange pasty form, add the pepper, magi, salt, grinded crayfish, and sliced ukazi to it and turn. Finally, strain the meat of water and add the meat balls into the oil. Your Isi ewu dish is ready. Some of the health benefits of Isi ewu dish include:
First, the meat is a good source of healthy protein, because the meat in the head contains little or no fats.
Secondly, the red oil serves as a good source of vitamin A and is good for clear eye vision. It alss contains fats and oil which is good for the body.
