Smoking is a bad habit that is very dangerous to one’s health. Smoking in public places has to do with smoking in places where people gather or hang around. Some public places such as fast food joints, restaurants, and clubs allow people to smoke and thus expose other innocent people to smoking hazards even when the person does no indulge in the very act of smoking. That is why most countries prohibit smoking in public places, because of the dangers it constitute to other people. Nigeria for one is planning on passing a bill that makes every smoker who smokes in public places liable to a fine of 50,000 Naira; this is to show how serious the issue of smoking in public places is. For a Person who does not smoke, staying in a place that allows public smoking turns you to second hand smoker, and as a second hand smoker, you inhale the smoke that is being exhaled by the smoker. It has been scientifically proven that second hand smoking is actually more dangerous than first hand smoking, because when a smoker inhales bad air from a cigarette stick, not all the smoke enters his lungs because it was inhaled through the mount, but when the smoke is exhale, and somebody nearby inhales such air, it is breathed in through the nose and directly into the lungs. That is why there has been several cases of people who never smoked in their entire lives but were later diagnosed of lungs cancer and this was as a result of second hand smoking.
