It is no news that now, more than ever, that there is an alarming increase in the number of obsese people in Nigeria. Even Medical experts have attested to this. It has also been reported that one of the major factors responsible for this is the way people stay glued to their TVs. This is especially true with the pay TV technology. This satellite technology is now everywhere and worst of all is that it is now so cheap that virtually anybody can subscribe to it.

The exciting programmes shown on Pay TV has kept a lot of people constantly always glued to their TV set and this invariably means getting less involved in physical activity and this inactivity also referred to as a sedentary lifestyle only leads to obesity and weight gain.

According to research/medical report also, Nigerians are known to be fond of eating while watching this pay TV. This is not good for the health. Eating while glued to the TV makes you unconscious of the amount of what you are eating and with this you tend to eat more than you should. The direct effect of this is that you are very prone to gain weight and other related conditions.

The inactivity caused by pay TV does not allow the food that you eat to be used. Instead it is being stored in the body and results to fat.

The rate of incidence of obesity is becoming alarming and has been discovered to be correlated to spending extended hours watching TV especially with these days of pay TV. It's not just the Nigerian parents that are victims but also the kids too.
