In as much as we have good Ecommerce sites in Nigeria, Nigerians prefer to shop on foreign websites, this can be attuned to the fact that products on USA websites are very cheap and of very high quality; but despite these advantages, Nigerians hardly shop on USA websites, and this is because of the following reasons:- Unsupported means of payment: Until recently, most Nigerians were outside of the Paypal net and so can't shop on many US websites like eBay. Even, now, most US websites don't offer payment platforms that accept Nigerian billing addresses such as Paypal, Visa or Mastercard all of which now work in Nigeria. So, some US websites don't still offer a means of payment that includes Nigerian billing addresses. A site like Amazon.com is excluded.- Lack of international Shipping: Most U.S.A websites do not shop their products outside U.S.A, so the only way someone residing outside USA can shop on their Site and can get his product is to use the services of a shipping company to ship, which incurs additional cost; this make Nigerians reluctant to shop on USA sites but focus more on Asian sites that ship down to Nigeria.- Little buyer protection: Shopping on some USA sites from a country like Nigeria doesn't offer much protection for the buyer. Some sellers may collect payment but may either not ship or ship items that don't match exact specifications. It is easier for a Nigerian to shop on local websites where laws are available and can be enforces to protect them but shopping from an international base offers little protection for buyers.- Expensive Products: The price of items on US websites are more expensive than what is obtainable on China sites, that is why most Nigerians hardly shop on their sites.
